How to Make a Car Show Board

Having a car show board in front of your car is a great way to promote the unique aspects of your car in an attractive manner. As they say, it’s all about the presentation! You’ll want to present the car in a dignified manner, so that your car looks like it belongs there… but at the same time you don’t want to create visual obstacles to distract from the car itself. That’s where a good show board comes in!

The Most Important Part of your Car Show Board

Let’s start with the basics… The most important piece of information that should be on your show board is What makes the car or truck special to you!! There has to be one reason why you own the car and want to show it off! That should be the central item of every show board. After all… there should be one good reason why that car is in your garage!

Another really valuable piece of information you’ll want is how the car or truck became YOUR car or truck! Feel free to go into how you obtained the vehicle… how you bought it, restored it, or modified it. The story of the car is probably as important, if not more important than the car itself. Don’t be afraid to go into the history of the car… because it’s a part of the car!

Don’t Get Too Technical

Most people will just have the year, make, model, and some basic specs of the car. While that might look good on a showroom floor, it might not cut it at a car show!! It’s simple… a car should reflect you and your personality, so rather than bore everyone with a generic spec sheet focus more on the specs that attracted you to the car. Also, don’t forget about the specs that make a car unique or rare. Focusing on them will really make your car stand out above the others!

Pictures for your Car Show Board

Pictures can be another thing that can add to a car show board, but they’re not necessary! A lot of people want a classic show board look, and would rather go with a text only show board (in fact, about 15 years ago, WE started putting pictures on show boards). If you do want to add pictures, add them of the unique specs and mods that we mentioned. And above all, try to use pictures that appeal to you… like at a unique place or setting. A great car show board will use photos to make the board more attractive or show a component or feature that’s not generally visible… not to show the car to people who are standing right in front of the car!

Putting it All Together

This is the easiest part if you don’t over-think it!

You know you’ve seen them… The ones that try to design and print their own show board and end up with something that doesn’t fit with the car’s fit and finish. Having somebody design and produce your car show board is the simplest way to do it. We’ve got over 15 years experience designing show boards that will attract people’s attention and put all of YOUR information into a design that will convey this info properly. We’ve designed for cars that are featured at The SEMA Show, Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals, and World of Wheels… so you know you’re in good hands! And if you have a concern, just contact us! We’re here to make your car, as well as it’s owner look good!

Creating a Great Car Show Display

From time to time people ask me “What makes a great car show display?”.  And while the answer may be just opinion, I just say “Let the car do the talking and let a good car show display sign back it up!”  The premise is simple, there should only be one focus in your car show display… the car!

I’ve never been one to emulate others, but if you look at some of the premiere car shows out there like Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals, the cars there don’t have any gags or gimmicks, just the car and a sign that shares the details of a car.  It’s not a lot because they want the car to be the center of attention.  That’s the way a car show should be.  Needless to say, if you need some stupid crying doll, a tray of fake food, or some giant stuffed animal to get people to look at your car… you shouldn’t be at a show.

As far as your car show display sign, here’s where you can get creative!  I’ve had a lot of customers give me pictures of their cars before it was restored, or how it was when their parents had the car.  I find the car show display sign with these elements hit the sweet spot.  Don’t just list off some specs, tell the story of the car!!

There’s just so much to be said about a car with a story, gives it an added depth to the car, and when you can put that on a car show board, you’re going to grab a lot of attention… and a lot of votes!  I’ve been doing signs for over 15 years, and the show boards that share the story of the car are always my favorite.  We can help you share the story of your car too!

Car Show Boards for Cruise Nights?

Were going to be honest about something… there’s two types of car owners. There’s the competitive car owners that strive to make every detail of their car perfect and show up to every car show ready to win any award they can, and the enthusiast that enjoys driving their car and will just do the occasional car show or cruise night. Cruise nights are becoming the go-to for a lot of car owners because they’re just fun, casual events that only last an evening instead of a whole day that you would spend at a car show. And you’ll see a lot of cars with car show boards there!

A lot of people will ask if show boards are really needed for a cruise night, and the answer is yes! It’s all about presentation, whether you’re displaying your car at a car show for a day, or just a few hours at a cruise night. Having a car show display board is going to inform spectators about the specifications and unique features of your car, or simply tell the unique story of your car. A show board is going to give a glimpse into you as a owner by having a nice, neat little presentation of your car! People are going to know you not only love your car, but love it enough to want to share it with others!

So as the season rolls along and you just want to have a little fun, stopping in at a little cruise-in is a great way to get together with other gearheads and enjoy some cool cars. And when you put your car show board in front of your car, they’ll know you really are into your car! And who knows, you may attract the right person and end up with a Mayor’s Choice or Koolest Kar award!!
